K9 Patrol Ltd were the headlining arena attraction for Help 4 Heroes charity this year at an annual fundraising event.
The event held at Sherburn Aero field in Sherburn in Elmet, near Leeds on Sunday 18th August raised an amazing amount for the charity.
The event was organised by Sherburn Aero Club and a local radio station Minster FM staged the arena at the event which featured a guest appearance by Simon Buckden who last year took part in a gruelling challenge of running 100 marathons in 100 weeks to raise money for Help for Heroes.
K9 Patrol held two dog demonstrations on the day as well as a trade stand for the spectators to come and meet some of the handlers and their dogs.
With the dog teams including security GP dogs, German Shepherd Bobbie, Zulu and Storm, Rottweiler Max and an explosive detection Spaniel Lucky, the crowd were witness to some fantastic displays of obedience, handler control, bite work, locate and indicate and explosive searches and our very own criminal role play with Mr Stan Still…the local highwayman.
Back at the trade stand we had our fully equipped security vehicles for the public to see how we work, with each dog and handler being able to answer questions and let the public meet the stars of the shows.
It was a great opportunity to show what our dog units are capable of and for us to show the general public what an important deterrent a fully trained dog unit can have when working on security assignments. It also gave our dog handlers Lee, Jason, Scott and Paul chance to be seen in the light of day rather than lurking in the dark of night!
The event also saw a fun packed day of military displays, vintage car displays, spectacular fly overs by the Battle of Britain Spitfire, dance shows, Helicopter rides, a Lady Gaga tribute, and packed full of a variety of stalls and stands.
